Tattoo Care How-To:

Remove foil or bandage after 1 to 4 hrs and wash the tattooing with lukewarm water. You can use some mild unperfumed soap. Tap the tattoo dry tenderly and apply a fair layer of After Tattoo Lotion. For the first few nights you should wrap the well lotioned tattoo with a foil or a druggist's grease bandage in order to keep the skin moist and to prevent scabbing. Wash the tattoo well and apply a good layer of lotion in the morning. Recuperation will take from one week to one month, so prepare to apply some lotion very often during these days (some 10 times a day). Our After Tattoo Lotion has proved itself the best product for the purpose. The foil or bandage is not needed on a daily basis unless your outfit decides otherwise In any case you should aim at a loose wear to irritate the skin as little as possible.

Warnings:

Avoid sauna, sunshine and solarium. If you have to expose your tattoo to sunshine use a very high sun protection factor lotion. Do not overstay in bathtub, swimming pool or lakes. You can take a shower as often as you wish. Keep smudge, dirt, oil, grease etc. away from your tattoo.

In Future:

The colours may fade due to dried or flaky skin. To keep your tattoo bright you should apply some cream or lotion quite frequently.

Piercing Care How-To:

Keep the jewel in place during the recuperation period and some three months afterwards to be sure that the pierced hole wouldn't close. Piercing causes an open wound which always means a risk of infection. Remember to keep your hands clean whenever you touch the jewel. You might also avoid too tight cloths during the recovery especially in case of navel and genital piercing. Adhere carefully to safety sex rules with your oral, labial or genital piercing. To keep your piercing clean you should wash it at least twice a day with e.g. Sebamed or some other neutral pH soap. Don't be scared if the piercing starts to scab, it's quite a natural reaction. Just squirt some warm water over the scab and remove it extremely carefully. Use a cotton stick moistened with soap and water to clean both the piercing and the jewel. Roll the jewel to clean the surrounding skin, too. Finally flush with a good amount of water so that no soap remains between the jewel and skin. After cleaning apply some amount of Septidin lotion to the piercing and carefully roll the jewel back and forth. Read thoroughly the specifications of any cleanser to use and beware of products with alcohol or otherwise strong content. In case of allergy you can use a rinsing and cleansing fluid made of water and sea salt. Particularly navel, nipple and genital piercings benefit from clean sea water or water with sea salt. Avoid overstaying in bathtub, swimming pool or lakes due to increased risk of infection. You should not put any kind of bandage or sticking plaster over labial or tongue piercing, because air is the fastest recoverer. Rinse your mouth a few times daily with either mouthwash (Hextril) or sea salt water. Rinse also always after eating or drinking. Avoid smoking as far as you can, and always remember to rinse carefully every time afterwards! Smoking delays the recuperation process!

Common Concerns:

Piercing may bleed sometimes a couple of days and it may also ache. Occasionally some bruising may appear, but all this is quite normal. If the piercing is swelling or flushing red, do not remove the jewel! That is because: The jewel is not the cause of irritation. It has been made of surgical steel. A new hole may close in a couple of hours and the infection will remain underneath, which may require medical care and a course of antibiotics. If the jewel should trigger rejection, it will grow out all by itself.

Please be patient during the recuperation period and always careful with cleansing!
